Plot Synopsis

This is not an omnibus film or an ensemble play. This film proposes a unique way of grasping the world, inspired by The Human Comedy by Balzac, great French novelist. The film tries to describe the solitude of individuals and "salvation as a possibility" that accompanies that solitude.

White Cat
Ono arrives the theatre for a dance performance, only to receive a call from her boyfriend, Suzuki that he cannot make it that evening. Ono then comes across Reiko who lost her ticket. Ono gives one of her tickets to Reiko.

After the performance Ono and Reiko go to a small restaurant, where Ono frankly talks about her frustration with her boyfriend. Reiko is separated from her husband, and is now in a relationship with the owner-chef of the restaurant, Furuya...

Haruna, an amateur photographer, decides to hold an exhibition of her photos in a gallery. She keeps herself busy on the opening day of the exhibition, as she has to adjust the layout of the photos, finish the interior decoration, and prepare for the opening reception planned that evening.

Many people step in and out of the gallery, including Reiko, the estranged wife of the owner of the gallery. A professional photographer, Nosaka, who takes a critical view of Haruna's photos...

Masaki gets his right arm amputated after an accident, but his brain does not seem to recognise that the limb is lost. It is only himself that clearly feels the presence of his right arm, which of course will never return.

All the people around him express their sympathy to him, but no one realizes what really has happened to him. A different kind of change occurs with the pregnancy of his wife, Jun, as her body continues to change day by day...
